Questions Worth Asking Any Practitioner
- What will you test, and when in my cycle? Hormones follow daily and monthly rhythms. Someone who does not care about timing is not reading the result properly.
- What will you rule out first? Thyroid, iron, vitamin D and sleep quality produce the same symptoms as a hormone problem, and should be checked before anything is prescribed.
- Is what you would prescribe FDA-approved, or compounded? Both exist, they are not the same, and you should be told which you are being offered.
- What happens if it does not work? A good answer involves retesting and reassessment, not simply a higher dose.
- Will you coordinate with my other doctors? The answer should be yes, without hesitation.
Signals Worth Walking Away From
- A pellet inserted at the first appointment, before any testing. Pellets cannot be removed once placed, so that ordering is backwards.
- "Bioidentical means safer." It does not. Bioidentical describes chemistry, not risk, and compounded preparations are not FDA-approved.
- A supplement package sold at the same visit as the diagnosis.
- Reluctance to hand over your own lab results.
- Any promise about how you will feel by a specific date.

We test before prescribing and retest to see what actually changed. We look at thyroid, iron, vitamin D, blood sugar and sleep alongside sex hormones, because those are frequently the real answer.
